Visiting Steve today in Northallerton is making me feel reflective….

Waiting for my hair straighteners to heat up as I’m visiting Steve in Northallerton shortly,
but this got me thinking today….

Mmm’ are you a rule breaker?

Does that define being a thriver, progress maker, or a victim trapped with self-pitying thoughts and an unnecessary acceptance of your new status-quo?

Indeed, how much did that rule breaking gene, help my own motivation & drive towards my own highly ambitious goals? ( I happen to think I inherited this off my Mum’s side of the family, but that’s just my theory!)

So is being a rule breaker something you are just born with?

I do know for sure that loved-ones intervention, (like Michaela who organised this visit today via my beating locked in syndrome page on Facebook), are CRUCIAL.

Access to medic rehabilitation is also CRUCIAL.

Willing your body ALL THE TIME, is CRUCIAL

Patient desire, motivation and GOALS are equally CRUCIAL.

To work damn hard is bloody CRUCIAL.

To know that you NEVER lose a voluntary pathway, even if you get the tiniest flicker back, is CRUCIAL for the patient (& their loved-ones,) to know.

I’d say it went well today:

‘Hi Kate it’s Michaela. Thank you so much for visiting today. I asked Steve if he was glad you visited and he said yes. Also his nurse asked him to wiggle his toes and he did, I saw it! Will have the video on ready next time!!!! Xx’
